  • About This Coffee

El Cipres is located in the region of Tarrazú and its name is due to a centenary tree in the center of the property since 1938. Don Egerico Mora and Adelina Camacho, enterprising and visionary people, acquired the land located in Llano bonito de Leon Corte in 1939.

When the family moved into the region, they were one of the first to establish themselves in Llano Bonito de Leon Cortes, and the family dedicated their lives to the agricultural practices of coffee and livestock. Their family's legacy has continued to be carried through the generations and their goal now is to perpetuate the practices of high-end specialty coffee. In the 1970s, the mother's estate was divided, as Doña Lina inherited it from her children. One part becomes Finca El Ciprés whose owner is Jesús Mora and family.

El Cipres has a diverse range of plant and crop life, with shade provided by Orange, Avocado, Banana, Plantain, Poro, Cedar, and Indian Cane, as well as fruit trees that provide food and shelter to native birds of the region. El Cipres is constantly implementing better practices such as regulated shade-controlling weeds and applications of fertilizers in a sustainable manner.

This washed red catuai is processed with great care and carries a soft aroma of apricot and bright acidity. Flavors of mango, papaya, and passionfruit, medium body, soft aftertaste.
