🌋 Origin & Community
Some coffees are memorable. Others redefine what coffee can be.
Nestled in the volcanic Acatenango Valley, Santa Felisa Estate has been producing exceptional coffee for over 120 years. Founded in 1902 (with the Meneses family managing the estate since the early 1900s), the farm is now led by fourth-generation siblings Anabella and Antonio Meneses, who have earned an international reputation for combining Guatemala's rich coffee heritage with cutting-edge innovation.
Stretching between 1,520 and 1,900 metres above sea level, Santa Felisa enjoys one of Guatemala's most remarkable growing environments. Cool mountain breezes from the Sierra Madre meet warm sunny afternoons before giving way to cool Pacific evenings. This dramatic temperature swing slows cherry maturation, allowing sugars to develop gradually and creating coffees with exceptional sweetness, complexity and clarity.
Every coffee tree is shade-grown within a biodiverse ecosystem. Over the past decade, Anabella has pioneered a philosophy she calls Precise Agriculture—an environmentally focused approach that carefully studies soil, plant health and natural ecosystems to help every tree reach its full potential while protecting the surrounding environment.
🌱 The Legendary Gesha T2722
Few coffee varieties have transformed specialty coffee quite like Gesha (Geisha) T2722.
Originally collected from Ethiopia's Gesha forests before making its way through Tanzania and the CATIE research station in Central America, the T2722 selection eventually found its home in Panama, where it famously won the Best of Panama competition in 2005 and forever changed the world's perception of premium coffee. Since then, Gesha has become one of the most celebrated and sought-after varieties on earth.
At Santa Felisa, the Meneses family has carefully introduced Gesha to their volcanic slopes, allowing this remarkable variety to express a distinctly Guatemalan personality while preserving the elegance that has made Gesha legendary.
🍒 Harvest & Natural Processing
Exceptional coffee begins with exceptional fruit.
Every cherry is selectively handpicked only after reaching 18–23° Brix, ensuring perfect ripeness and maximum sweetness.
After harvest, cherries are carefully washed before being transferred onto raised drying beds. Rather than rushing the process, the team slowly dries the coffee under carefully controlled shade, protecting it from direct sunlight while maintaining steady airflow.
One of Santa Felisa's most fascinating approaches is allowing the coffee to ferment naturally with the estate's own native microbiota. These naturally occurring microorganisms contribute unique aromatic compounds during drying, creating extraordinary complexity while preserving the unmistakable character of the Gesha variety. Every stage is carefully monitored to produce a beautifully clean and expressive natural process.
☕ In the Cup
This is the kind of coffee that reminds you why Gesha became world famous.
Expect an elegant bouquet of jasmine florals, bergamot, white peach, stone fruit, and tropical sweetness, layered over delicate honey-like sweetness and silky tea-like body. As the cup cools, new layers continue to unfold, revealing vibrant citrus, floral complexity and remarkable clarity that linger long after each sip.
Despite its intensity of aroma, the cup remains refined, balanced and incredibly clean—a hallmark of both the Gesha variety and Santa Felisa's meticulous craftsmanship.
💚 Why We Love It
