Named after the winding Lamari River in Papua New Guinea’s Eastern Highlands, it's a coffee born at 1,700–2,000 m high, nurtured by smallholder farmers on terraced plots beneath vibrant, volcanic skies'
Origin & Community
Lamari’s roots run deep in the rugged Eastern Highlands, specifically the Obura-Wonenara district. Smallholder farmers manage micro-plots—often under shaded canopy and rich volcanic soil—hand-tending heirloom varietals like Arusha, Bourbon, Typica, and occasionally Blue Mountain. These farmers, representing over 85% of PNG’s coffee production, cultivate with care and passion despite infrastructural hurdles. Over years of extension support, community training, and quality processing standards, this coffee has grown into a flagship of sustainable origin sourcing.
Harvest & Processing
After meticulous hand‑picking of only the ripest cherries, farmers dry their beans on-site before handing them off to the Lamari River Valley Coffee Gardens mill. There, parchment coffee is hulled, graded, and meticulously sorted for quality ahead of export. The whole‑harvest washing protocol ensures only the best beans make it through under Sucafina Originals’ vertically integrated supply chain model.
